Preparing data for indexing
Album
Data is collected as collections characterized by common attributes. A single collection (album) can contain many annotation layers.
Properties and functionalities of albums
An album can have many layers. Some of them are source materials in the form of scans (base or raster layers). The remaining layers are annotations, most often saved as database tables.
Scan layer
In order to create a base layer, it is necessary to organize the scan files.
How to prepare scan files?
Scan files (most often JPG files) can have any names, but such that sorting them in alphabetical order causes the scans to be arranged in the order in which we want to view them in the INDXR application. It is also important that the file name extensions (file type, e.g. *.jpg) are written in lowercase letters. Otherwise, the system will not see them.
How to place and configure scans on the server?
The system contains a section that allows you to send files to the server and then automatically process them into a base layer.
It is important to describe individual elements (albums, layers, descriptive attributes, …) with metadata that allows them to be properly understood.
Creating a database
Annotations have a database structure. The system facilitates the creation of this structure.
Important: The form with descriptive attributes displayed during indexing corresponds to the created database structure. Subsequent changes to the structure are dynamically reflected in the form.
Creating and using selection lists
Some of the fields may contain lists of hints and other controls that facilitate data entry.
Identification and harmonization of entered data
The entered descriptive data can be disambiguated (identification). They can also be simultaneously assigned identifiers from external databases (harmonization).
Integration with digital maps
A special case of identification and harmonization is spatial localization using a separate map window.
The window contains a set of standard map layers. In addition, it is possible to supplement this set with any other WMS type maps.
