Application description

Some theory

INDXR as an application is just one way to process data using this method. In fact You can use any software that can handle geometric types to create, store, analyze, search, share, and manage data. To create the reference application, one of many  of frameworks for spatial data was used to build the INDXR editor as a web application. It uses a server providing data sharing services (web-services). It can be any spatial data serwer, but we use Geoserver. Most products that support geometric data types go a step further and also support geographic data types. Hence, most of the components that can be used are GIS components. List of alternative software such as a database, service server, programming framework or end-use applications from which you can assemble your system: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Geographic_information_system_software

Depending on the complexity of a given project, it is possible to use a PC architecture and use only a desktop application (e.g. QGIS) for everything, or if there is a need for multiple users to co-create data sets, it is possible to launch a client-server system.

The features of a solution based on the above assumptions are presented below, with references to the reference application in some places.

INDXR is part of the Dariah.lab infrastructure developed as part of the DARIAH-PL project
